"Holocaust survivors, MPs, artists demand Met reverse decision favouring fascist march over Nakba

More than a hundred MPs, holocaust survivors, artists, authors and performers — many of them Jewish — have presented a letter to the Met Police condemning the force’s — no doubt political — decision to deny the annual Nakba Day march its usual route so that a fascist march can dominate central London.

The 16 May march will commemorate the Nakba (catastrophe) of around 800,000 Palestinians being violently driven from their homes and land to create the ‘state’ of Israel. The Met has refused to sign off on its route application. Instead it is giving priority to a "hate march called by racist thug ‘Tommy Robinson'”' in opposition to the Nakba commemoration."

Today In Labor History April 9, 1948: The Irgun and Lehi Zionist paramilitary slaughtered over 100 Palestinians in the Deir Yassin massacre, near Jerusalem. Many of the victims were women and children. Rape and mutilation were also alleged. It was part of the Nakba and expulsion of Palestinians from Palestine. As news of the massacre spread, it sparked terror among Palestinians throughout the region, convincing many to flee their homes. It also strengthened the resolve of Arab governments to attack, which they did a few weeks later, sparking the Arab-Israeli War of 1948. Menachim Begin was leader of the Irgun at the time. He went on to found the Likud Party and he became prime minister of Israel from 1977 to 1983. Many Arab states produced postage stamps commemorating the massacre. All of them use the image of a map of Palestine with a bloody dagger thrust into it.

Je pense qu'il faudrait toujours mentionner le nombre total de tués depuis le dernier soi-disant cessez-le-feu, mais aussi depuis le 7 octobre 2023 et une autre estimation depuis 1948 (et peut-être avant).

Juste pour garder le contexte entier à l'esprit.
