Headed out to Burns Park AA-023 this morning to work the weekly morning roundtable on #N8DUY 145.15- , with Jim #W8STX net control.

It was windy and I had a lot of wind noise on my mic until I got under the shelter. I hung up my #N9TAX roll-up J-pole, connected it to my #Quansheng HT, with good reception reports.

A strap to put around a tree so that I can hang the J-pole from it would be a useful addition to the kit.

#N9TAX roll-up J-pole antenna attached to a play structure, signal report is "full quieting" at 5 watts into the #N8DUY repeater.

Progress:

Filled a reusable tyvek grocery bag with a radio. Kenwood 2 meter #TK790 45W ex-railroad de @w8tam (heavy), LiFePO4 battery (also heavy), power cables, mic, speaker, #N9TAX roll-up Slim Jim antenna (for a tree). All in cloth bags for padding.

Grocery bag fits with a little coaxing into my Ortlieb "Bike Packer Plus" pannier. I don't know how much it weighs, but more than typical groceries. Pannier rating: 18kg.

To a nearby park to test next.
