#Cycling for
#cancer survival!
Annual cancer treatment in Nepal costs around $3,700, while the average annual salary is about $1,400.
Health insurance is expensive, and most people must pay out of pocket for every hospital visit. For many families, treatment is simply unaffordable. Knowing this, many people don’t even get tested — because what would be the point if they cannot pay for the cure?
I learned all this from Harka Lama , my cycling guide in Kathmandu — and a cancer survivor himself.
After fighting cancer, he reclaimed his life and returned to cycling in an extraordinary way. Today, he wants to help others who are facing the same struggle, but without access to care.
Harka organizes a charity ride for the treatment of cancer patients. Together with Kabita, also a cancer survivor, he will cycle across mid-hill
#Nepal from east to west, stopping for awareness events and community activities along the way.
It's a one month campaign, in which you can participate by
* riding with Harka and Kabita,
* donating to the cancer relief fund,
* sharing their story.
For you, it may be a small contribution.
For someone else, it can mean real difference — a chance to be treated.
