I just finished My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh, the story of a young New York woman who decides to sleep for a year.

I really liked this book. Even though it sounds like it'll be dull it is actually really entertaining. The main character isn't very nice but she can be quite funny. I'll definitely read more from this author.

@MargaretSefton. Good to know. I read #MyYearOfRestAndRelaxation, which was fascinating, but have not read #Eileen. Definitely on my TBR pile.
@ninsiana0 @bookstodon. I just finished #OttessaMoshfegh's #MyYearOfRestAndRelaxation. Since #HouseOfMirth is mentioned in it, and I've been wanting to reread it, I'm going to go with #EdithWharton (though many wonderful people with whom I engage on #Mastodon have recommended a bunch of books that I need to get my hands on ASAP!).
@technicat. This looks really good! Belatedly, I just finished #Ottessa Moshfegh
#MyYearOfRestAndRelaxation. Speculating here, but this might make for an interesting juxtaposition.

Read my ★★★★ review of #OttessaMoshfegh's 2018 #MyYearOfRestAndRelaxation, part of my 4-book completist run of her this summer, in which I argue that she's our next incarnation of #JGBallard, deeply unsettling and deserving the label "Moshfeghian." https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4793435620

4/5: 2022 reads, #31. Greetings from my Summer of Moshfegh! As friends remember, this is the summer I'm finally reading for the first time all four of the novels by hipster-lit It Girl Ottessa Moshfegh, right in a row until I'm done, because of recently noticing a growing amount of my friends at Goodreads starting to now describe other surreal novels by young female authors as "Moshfeghian" in nature, and me having a desire to know exactly what they mean when they use a term like this. As we saw last time, during my read of her 2015 full-length debut Eileen, even with her first novel I got somew...
