As some of you may know, I only read reviews after I’ve watched a film.
In the case of My New York Year the reviews are mixed.
Pamela Hutchinson in Sight and Sound liked it: https://www.bfi.org.uk/sight-and-sound/reviews/my-new-york-salinger-year-2020-joanna-rakoff-memoir
Wendy Ide in Observer didn’t: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2021/may/22/my-new-york-year-review-joanna-rakoff-margaret-qualley-sigourney-weaver-jd-salinger
I rarely agree with Wendy Ide’s reviews (or Peter Bradshaw in The Guardian) so it’s hardly a surprise that I disagree with her in this case.
If you have Prime, then My New York Year is worth 1.5 hours of your time.
