I had a lovely conversation in the forest with a couple I had never met before. They asked about my bandaged finger and we talked about the beauty of nature, mobility issues (the woman had a cane), the horrible realities in the world, and the sadness of dementia.

We were at the duck pond that I love visiting and it ended up feeling like a group therapy session so I thanked them both. Hope I bump into them again.

I set a record for my longest hike since I started using an Apple Watch! ๐Ÿ™Œ I hadnโ€™t even had the watch a year when it was suddenly painful just to stand.

Since Iโ€™m still using a cane outside, I decided to use my hiking poles. Good decision.

I started to cry when I arrived at the park. Tears of gratitude. The past couple of years have been the worst chapter of my life. Iโ€™m ready to be on the other side.

I made it to the duck pond! I took a bus that dropped me off a couple blocks from the park. It was nice to have a tiny nature walk before arriving at the bench in front of the duck pond. The ducks werenโ€™t there. How rude. ๐Ÿ˜†

I was last at the duck pond more than a year ago. I had no idea then the multiple foot health issues I would eventually endure. I may not be able to walk there yet but it was good for my soul to get there.

I took a bus to MEC knowing itโ€™s next to a park. I may have purchased a few items on sale. Yay for helpful employees and lots of benches for resting.

Now Iโ€™m sitting in the park under the shade of trees watching dogs play before I head to catch the bus home.

So apparently I did too much yesterday. No regrets. My physiotherapist advised me to start small with short 5-minute walks outside. Literal baby steps. He said I could try using walking poles instead of the cane.

I had a full day yesterday including going out for lunch + ice cream with a good work friend after physio. She also took me to a forest. While walking is limited, my soul really needs to be in nature.

I went to physio then took myself in an Uber to one of my favourite parks for some quality nature time. My foot swelled up from being upright so Iโ€™m currently resting with my legs stretched out on the bench.
