Small moments can have a massive impact. 8 years ago, one drum lesson changed the way I approached not just drumming, but life.

Take the lesson. Find the mentor. Invest in yourself—you never know how far it’ll take you.

And if you (or someone you know) want to level up on the drums, you know where to find me. 🥁✨ #Drumming #LifelongLearning #musiciansjourney

I haven't done much music-wise in the past days. My #musiciansjourney project is a ship on the high seas in the midst of a calm.

But I practiced some Bach today. Technically demanding and yet something I can comfortably lose myself in. #guitar

#musiciansjourney Practiced the guitar part for my song Nr. 1. Also, worked on figuring out the tempo on a metronome.

#musiciansjourney done something I had major resistance to: writing down the (fairly simple) chords for my song #1.

It is very short, so I consider writing at least another verse of lyrics.

But maybe short is ok? After all, my learning goal with this is more on the music/recording side.

Looking at most of my lyrics from earlier songwriting events, I see that I made major progress as a lyricist. I have started to get a grasp on rhythm, meter and rhyme.

#musiciansjourney diary: Found a midi of the accompaniment of the first song I want to rework. Put the lyrics into printable form. Will print them and extract the chords using that .mid, and put lyrics and chords together.
#musiciansjourney I settled for five songs in varying states of unfinished-ness *and* assigned them priorities. Let's see how difficult it's going to be to stick with that sequence, and what fears and resistance I will face.

Reviewing my ... um, back catalogue in search for demos that deserve a re-working or re-recording.

I'm quite fond of this piano ballad commemorating Space Shuttle Columbia, but I don't know if I can add more to it in terms of arrangement. I feel like that stark minimalist arrangement is appropriate for the subject.

Yesterday, I tried to print out a few song lyrics I want to use as my #musiciansjourney material. My printer went on strike. So ... that was a bust, and I'll try again today.

#musiciansjourney I had a rough night because I freaked out about my so-called working life. But I also found some explanations for my fear around stepping up my music game. I think I've been playing it safe and aiming too low.

And again, I'm so grateful for the work of Mark McGuinness (https://lateralaction.com/ ) - found some valuable hints in his books.

(He has quite a lot of amazing free content.)
