Thunderbirds and Space: 1999

A celebration of Sci-Fi toys and Collectables celebrating the works of Gerry Anderson.

A few years ago, I posted about trying to hunt down a #radio I had as a kid. It was a clamshell design, bright orange, and when you opened it, it had a mirror with the Top of the Pops logo printed on it and fairy lights. That post got zero traction, but I found it (nearly) during yesterday's visit to the #MuseumOfBrands

My sketch from 2021 (posted here https://cjhearn.co.uk/twitter/cjhearn/status/1423735632732381190/ ) vs the #Steepletone Disco Radio. Still no search results for it, even by name! #totp

Hey Friday night #totp fans - help me out! As a kid ~late 80s, I had a TOTP radio. It was bright orange, chunky, rounded corners & flipped open to reveal a mirror with the TOTP logo and a few Christmas-type lights. I know it existed but can find no trace of it online. Any ideas?

What an amazing little gem the #MuseumOfBrands in Notting Hill is! It pushed all my history, nostalgia, and geekiness buttons walking through their Time Tunnel - go and check it out if you're in the area. Bonus point: the building used to be the London Lighthouse, a centre for people with HIV and AIDS, and the beautiful little memorial garden has been preserved.
Yesterday, we visited the Museum of Brands in Ladbroke Grove. Fascinating to see material from the 1st referendum on membership of the then EC/ Common Market. My Mum had a “Yes” sticker in her Ford Anglia but I recall little else from that time.
Interesting to see Europhobic rhetoric changed little over 41 years.
Events seem to support Marj Proops’ view.
Also spotted a Brexit is Bonkers sticker on the District Line #MuseumOfBrands #BrexitIsBonkers
