There's definitely something to be said for the goodwill you generate with a "no charge for this little job this time". It's an investment in the relationship you have with the customer, not an expense.
Was the machine repeatedly glitching for them? Just not reproducible once you showed up?
Does she have a proper rated set of insulated screwdrivers too? Electrical work is tricky...
Glad you have UPS protection now. Of course the local power company here stopped having multi-hour random outages right after I upgraded my systems...
I don't know what a good new gas furnace costs these days. This one was something like $5k 17 years ago, and they won't have gotten cheaper.
Other than the #melted relay, I can't find any #problems with the board. There could be invisible breakage, but maybe not. So I'll replace the relay.
Of course, the failed relay is no longer available, because it was produced under the Proliferation of Hazardous Substances Act (#PoHS).
