Murc's law - Wikipedia

Have you ever noticed that Democrats are often blamed for everything, even actions taken by Republicans?

This phenomenon can be explained by what is known as Murc’s Law.

It reflects the dangerous belief that only Democrats have political agency, as if Republicans are merely reacting to Democratic actions like toddlers lacking self-control.

Under Murc’s Law, every decision made by the GOP is attributed to the Democrats. People say things like, “They provoked it,” “They didn’t stop it,” and “They failed to compromise.”

Meanwhile, Republicans escape scrutiny and remain unquestioned, uncriticized, and unaccountable.

Murc’s Law serves to normalize authoritarian behavior while placing the blame on those who are trying to uphold democratic principles.

Do not fall for it; call it out when you see it.

You’ve Probably Never Heard of “Murc’s Law”, But You’ve Seen It in Action Lots of Times

Far too many people blame Democrats for what Republicans do.

Too many in the media blame the Democrats for what Republicans have done.

Journalists love to act like Democrats are the adults and Republicans are their children, and then blame the Democrats for failing to control the Republicans.

But Democrats do not control what Republicans do.

So why doesn't the media hold Republicans accountable for what Republicans do?

Cue to concern trolls telling you why you should be angry with Trudeau about it in 3... 2 ... 1...

#MurcsLaw #ConcernTroll

It's sure as the sun that when malfeasance by Republicans is reported somebody will join in and give a reason for you to be angry with the Democrats about it.

This is literal troll action and merits an instant block. It's also an expression of Murc's Law and relieves the malignant authoritarians of the responsibility for their awfulness. Don't let them off the hook.

#MurcsLaw in action.

Murcs Law suggests that #Republicans are toddlers who have no control over their own behavior, and #Democrats are the only adults in the room. So when the #GOP does bad stuff, everyone blames the #Dems for not controlling the GOP.

But the GOP are adults (even when they don't act like it), and Democrats have no real control over how Republicans behave. So it is irrational to blame the Dems for GOP behavior.

Looks like #MurcsLaw which assumes that #Republicans are toddlers who have no control over their own behavior, and #Democrats are the only adults in the room. So when the #GOP does bad stuff, everyone blames the #Dems for not controlling the GOP.
