Which brings us right back to Hillary Clinton's "baskets of deplorables": there is a sizeable minority among our countrymen who are either racist, misogynist nazis or are willing to LIVE UNDER racist, misogynist nazism as long as it promises to supply them with their daily fix of #MuhLibruhlTears.

Assuming democracy survives here, we really have to have the tough societal deliberations involved in deciding how we're going TO DEAL WITH that reality.

This, but with DEMOCRATS. Anybody who is still A REPUBLICAN at this point WANTS the atrocities. It's WHAT THEY'RE THERE FOR. Anything that delivers #MuhLibruhlTears. We need to be going after the DEMOCRATS who aren't preparing those millions of citizens who keep turning out for protests, should #AgolfShitler ACTUALLY INVOKE the Insurrection Act, to march on DC and Mar-a-Lardo exercising their First AND SECOND Amendment rights, and drag this entire administration out of their offices & mansions to be held accountable for their crimes against the Constitution and 'We, the People,' its Sovereign.

The problem with this line of reasoning is that the evidence of the last SEVERAL DECADES (as a senior Intelligence leader, AND ONETIME REPUBLICAN ACTIVIST, I've been watching this since long before #AgolfShitler began his rise to power) shows that there ARE two Americas: 20-30% of our countrymen are so filled with hate that people with different skin colors, sexual orientations, gender identities, religious beliefs, or even GENDERS were actually going to be allowed to live their authentic lives ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN FREE CHOICES, in the America that presidential administrations from BOTH parties had been securing for 50 years, that they were willing to abandon democracy, align with a hostile foreign power, construct an alternate universe of "alternative facts" that dismantles science, and sell their souls to a Christofascist Gilead--so long as it delivered a regular fix of #MuhLibruhlTears.

This crisis erupted when they were able to con, cajole, or intimidate *an additional* 20-30% of their neighbors into voting them into power for long enough to dismantle the professional public service, and co-opt the Supreme Court into rubberstamping blatantly unconstitutional decisions that dissolve our civil rights. Yes, it would be wonderful if our magnanimity were able to help us win that additional 20-30% back over to decency and democracy to vote them out, but (1) the 2024 election outcome shows that to be incredibly unlikely, since by then they'd ALREADY SEEN what he was, and the blueprint for the fascist state they were voting for, and (2) EVEN IF we were able to wave a magic wand and stipulate that happening, we would STILL be left with that *original* 20-30%--the "baskets of deplorables" Hillary tried to warn us about--as a festering cancer inside America's body politic, to conspire to game the system and launch their fascist revolution all over again.

And any "Democratic" politician who is still unable to see that IS PART OF THE PROBLEM, not its solution.

I reach a pretty similar conclusion by a completely different route: #MAGAts are NOT a unified political movement with a set ideology (other than #MuhLibruhlTears); they're a fractious coalition of Hillary Clinton's various "baskets of deplorables" (racists, homophobes, antisemites, 'Christian' nationalists, antivaxxers, antigovernment nutcases like the Bundys, #CuckooForQAnon, redpilled #IncelQaida misogynists, etc.) WHO OFTEN HATE EACH OTHER ALMOST AS MUCH AS THEY HATE US.

And the #Donjjal is all that unified them.

To use the OP's example of Reichsleiter Vance, the racists and white nationalists in the coalition LOATHE him because to them he's a 'race traitor' for marrying and 'breeding' a non-white. They'd string him up by the balls, given half a chance. Similarly, there are factions of the 'Christian' nationalists who hate the antisemites because 'Jesus was a Jew,' and hate the redpills because God made man & woman helpmates to one another, and they suspect most incels are closet gays. 😅

Its far from a certainty, of course, but MY bet is that if #DementiaDonOld's cheeseburger diet catches up with him, MAGA dissolves into warring cliques, each trying to shiv the others for THEIR shot at glory.

And WE need to be prepared to exploit the HELL outta this....

I fear this elides the role of the willfully evil: those who UNDERSTAND that fascism is bound to hurt them too--but who genuinely DON'T GIVE A SHIT, as long as they get #MuhLibruhlTears and can see people they hate led off in chains to the ovens. We saw the proof of this during COVID, when so many of them were literally #DyingToOwnTheLibs.

The real irony is that--as with many of #AgolfShitler's policies--the worst hit by this ARE LIKELY TO LIVE IN RED STATES!

But one of the paradoxical strengths of the #MAGAts' movement is that--as their predilection for #DyingToOwnTheLibs during COVID showed us in spades--they really don't give a damn if his policies hurt them personally, as long as he delivers on their fix of #MuhLibruhlTears.
