Work completed (flashing Coreboot using the excellent #mrchromebox scripts) and changing to Linux.
Need to clear the adhesive, replace and re-stick, and should be a bargain of a machine.
@GossiTheDog even for gaming, windows is going out the door, with the advent of the steamdeck, and steam support being what it is today on linux.

doing this also lets you use normal linux distros really easily. and this is such a magnificent coup on google's part, getting coreboot into so many millions of computers in such a manner. bravo!
@cas they would be even more amazing if most didn't come with soldered eMMCs. That's my big pet peeve with Chromebooks.
I really enjoyed an ancient Acer CB3-111 in 2014(?) and atm I have Acer CP311 that is waiting for a new display (first the Wacom digitiser went, now backlight control + touch are gone with intermittent data corruption). Great keyboards, light, decent performance and #mrchromebox 's firmware is ace!
