DuncanIncidentally I don't think it's too hard to figure out what the film's about, it even explicitly spells it out in the last few minutes.
Guess people just latched onto some of the more explicit subthemes a bit too much. 🤷
Empire of Light. A film with a lukewarm reception and certainly one which was missold - but also one that's underrated in my view.
The first half drags and feels no better than quite good. But once you reach the 65 minute mark it turns around. Provided you've cottoned onto what the film actually is about.
Romance and racism are secondary. "The magic of the cinema" (which is more about art in general) is tertiary. Most middling/negative reviews don't get this.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy 4k Extended Edition
Yeah, this has been available for 5 years now, but it was god-awful expensive, and I didn't really have a home theater setup to take advantage of it, so my original Blu Rays had been fine.
But, the boxed set finally had a decent sale, and with our new OLED Dolby Atmos home setup I took the plunge.

If I Had Legs I'd Kick You. I struggle to know how to feel about this one truth be told.
There's a version of this, not too far from what exists, that's a masterpiece.
As is it takes big swings, and sometimes hits. Possibly the best depiction of the subjective I've seen for instance. But it touches enough on wider topics only enough to show that what it wants to say is underdeveloped.
Real mixed bag. Stressful and flat to watch, but on reflection has a lot to recommend too.

Won't spoil it as it is currently in Theaters.
But, it is indeed as good as word has it. And a rare Hard Science Fiction film (at least by Hollywood measures). So if that is your bag, definitely go see it.
