Anne FisherMuch of the #Superman movie #ManOfSteel was filmed near me, when the small town of #Plano #Illinois was remade to become #Smallville . This window at the Plano Methodist Church was used in the scene where #ClarkKent ( #HenryCavill ) is talking to a preacher about sacrificing himself in order to save the world from Zod.
This #StainedGlass #window was used as background symbolism in that scene, because it depicts Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, before sacrificing himself on the cross for all mankind (Matthew 26:36-46).
Every year, the town of Plano hosts a Superman Celebration, and visitors can see some of the places where scenes were filmed. I was also fortunate enough to visit when the set was days away from production, and see everything that had been done to the town in preparation. (I will post those images sometime later.)
