Hello everyone! We're the Comet Observatory, a #PluralSystem from #Maryland. We're interested in #vintagetech, #FreeSoftware, #Linux (both kernel and operating system) and #Theatre. We've been hanging out on #tchncs for a few weeks, but decided to #MoveInstances.

And you can export your Bookmarks via a CSV file that you can import into your new account at the new instance, but you can't do that with Favourites. I didn't know that before I hit the Move button and my old account became inaccessible. That's a shame.

When you move instances and you "move all followers from the current account to the new account" by configuring the old account - there's one important thing to know: your old account can't be changed. So if you want to show the same profile pic you use in your new account but in an amended form: you need to do that before you move your followers. Likewise downloading the CSV files. Luckily I did that, I just didn't think of the profile pic. Lesson learnt.

How hard is it to #MoveInstances ? Easy! I just left the good people at Mastodon.NZ to repatriate to Mstdn.ca, my home country.

I had signed up hastily on October 28th (sink day) and didn't take the time to read the server rules. While I would love to be an honorary Kiwi (I love New Zealand!) connecting with your local community is important.
