Bigleaf lupine are invasive in Maine, though I can’t help but find them a beautiful sign of early summer. I recently learned there is a native species called sundial lupine which is pretty much extinct in the wild here. Now I want to find seeds and figure out how to grow it.

I usually don’t post photos taken with my phone but I thought this one was pretty and the lupine photos I shot on film have yet to be developed.

Thurston’s Lobster Pound or simply just “The Dock.” Maine’s wharfs are built out above the water on pilings so that fishermen can access them at both high and low tide. Even at low tide a 50-ft boat can pull directly up next to the wharf. This part of Maine has tides that typically fluctuate by 10-12 ft.
