I skimmed Patrick McGilligan’s recent biography of Woody Allen today. Like the reviewer, I found the writing on the film making, especially Allen's work with the cinematographer Gordon Willis, rewarding.

While working on his book, McGilligan polled "104 US film critics, scholars, and entertainment journalists" to discover which of Allen's films rated most highly by informed viewers. Here are the results:
