Only 33 & 45 but I've got a lot of great jazz recordings re-issued by #MosaicRecords that were remastered from 78s. That'll have to do for me. 🤷♂️
I seldom buy individual albums in #Vinyl or #CD anymore, preferring instead to buy sets that fill gaps in my collection.
So, In addition to the 2 vinyl sets that I purchased at #AmoebaRecords yesterday that I described in a separate toot, I also placed a pre-order to buy this 7 #CD set soon to be released by #MosaicRecords
The Complete Pharoah Sanders Theresa Recordings.
After I receive it, It will be the 155th Mosaic Records set in my collection. That's 155 out of the 182 sets issued plus 8 out of 8 of their special limited release Vinyl Set Series.

Here's a great article from the #MosaicRecords #JazzGazette about #CliffordBrown (#Brownie) -- one of my all time favorite jazz #trumpet players -- whose brilliant talent was tragically ended much too early as a result of an auto accident in 1956 when he was only 25 yrs old.

@innergroove I've got 11 of #HankMobley's #BlueNote albums but also own these 2 #MosaicRecord sets that fill a lot of gaps in my collection of his music and, if you're missing any of his Blue Note recordings from the 1950's to 70's, I recommend looking for these #MosaicRecords sets:
I don't frequent #RecordStores very often anymore but I was in #Martinez today & happened to notice a small record store there.
I browsed thru their 3 small bins of jazz LPs & found the 1984 #MosaicRecords release of the #PortOfHarlemJazzmen which includes the 1st recordings ever produced & released on an album by (the to be named) #BlueNote records founded by Alfred Lion in 1939.
The sound quality on the album isn't great because it's mastered from the acetates used to cut the original 78's during 2 sessions in 1939. If you're into listening to "vintage" jazz music, that's par for the course but the poor sound quality does not detract from listening to #SidneyBechet play a soulful version of #Summertime on the B-side of the LP.
I could have bought a copy off of #Discogs but part of the fun of collecting LPs is going #BinDiving & I consider this a great #LP find!
However, I am now thinking about buying the a Japanese re-issue of the original album for comparison.
Spent the last roughly 3 hours listening to the 6 #LP #MosaicRecords set of "The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Sidney Bechet" recorded between 1939 & 1953.
I'm not really a #Dixieland or #TraditionalJazz"fan but the time flew by as I changed/flipped the LPs every 15 mins or so listening to this amazing 70-85 yr old music.
Sidney Bechet played jazz #clarinet long before #BennyGoodman came on the scene &, while it's undocumented, I dare say that what #Goodman learned about how to play the jazz clarinet, he learned from #SidneyBechet.
Mosaic Records (the premier re-issuer of old jazz classic sets) is now accepting pre-orders for a new 11 CD set of V-Disc (V for Victory) recordings produced between 1942-1949 for the US military.
Since the US govt ordered that all of the masters & stampers be destroyed at the end of the program, Mosaic re-mastered the recordings from available 78s (& in some cases from masters that were saved from destruction).
I just ordered it & haven't heard all of it yet but clips from the set are provided in the link below. Since this music was produced during the hey-day of #SwingJazz (prior to post-war #Bop) that's what you're going to hear on this set but it's music that no one except your parents or grandparents ever got to hear when the music was originally produced & aired.
Some great jazz artists of the era are listed in performing on these CDs, including but not limited to #LouisArmstrong #ArtTatum #BenWebster #BobbyHackett #HerbEllis #JackTeagarden

I've been a collector of #MosaicRecords sets going back to when the company was 1st founded in 1981.
Just got notice from Mosaic that Michael Cuscuna, who had a hand in distributing & unearthing some of the most important jazz music ever recorded in his time as a producer w/Columbia Records and as the co-founder of Mosaic Records, just died. ☹️
