Morrissey, the lead singer of The Smiths, released a rockabilly EP in 1991 called ‘Little Bastard’. In the early 90s, rockabilly was completely dead; it wasn’t until several years later that we brought it back into the mainstream (I think we were quite successful at it). You really wouldn’t associate this music with The Smiths either. So he must have done it out of genuine conviction, because even though we’re often laughed at and insulted, without rock ’n’ roll and rockabilly, most popular music simply wouldn’t exist.
From a rock ’n’ roller’s point of view, the songs are just average. But “Sing Your Life” is lovely and has good lyrics because:
