I have been lucky to visit Japan 6 or 7 times. I have also been lucky to see “Maman” at the foot of the Mori Tower twice, and at the foot of the Bilbao Guggenheim museum twice, too where the same statue is installed.

I have been lucky to visit Japan 6 or 7 times. I have been lucky to see “Maman” at the foot of the Mori Tower twice, and at the foot of the Bilbao Guggenheim museum twice, too.
I didn’t know it then, as I was watching the high rise through the legs of the gigantic spider sculpted by Louise Bourgeois, but two years after, I returned and ate in the fanciest restaurant at the top of that very building. A colleague of mine was able to get us in for a splendid work dinner. His name is Jun Murai and he’s known to have been instrumental in bringing the Internet in Japan. I am lucky to know very interesting people.
