Finished reading The Wicked Day. It does a great job of making Mordred sympathetic and the fateful clash with Arthur to be a series of unfortunate events. It’s a great finish to Mary Stewart’s Merlin series.

Started reading The Book Thief. I knew nothing going in. I guess a tragic tale of growing up under fascism is just what we need right now.

Wenn man die Bauten mit der Artus-Legende liest und ich die letzte Male Lancelot und Guinevere präsentiert habe, so sehe ich jetzt hier Mordred vor mir stehen. In der Wiener Bauordnung waren einmal Balkone verboten. Dem ist nicht mehr so.

This began with leftover paint smooshed with a palette knife onto canvas that I was mixing colors on. The orange and black immediately suggested a campfire.

When I stumbled on the scrap a year later, I thought of The Dark Tower, so I rescued the canvas and sketched in Roland with paint that I had on hand. 1/2
