On 20 May, Vladimiro Montesinos reached the age of 80. According to legislation passed last year and promulgated in December by President Dina Boluarte, prisoners who reach 80 can be released from jail and serve their sentences under conditions of house arrest. Montesinos’ lawyers plan to use this to demand the release of their client.
