The Chamber of Deputies has given the green light to the bill on nuclear energy: small reactors instead of old power plants.

Following the approval of the Environment and Production Activities committees, the bill was approved by the Montecitorio plenary session in its first reading and now passes to the Senate. All the new provisions contained in the text.

I legali di Alessandra Sorcinelli e Barbara Guerra sottolineano che entro la fine del 2026 lasceranno le ville che gli erano state date in comodato d'uso dall'ex premier volendo cosi' chiarire che quelle case non rappresentavano il 'prezzo' della corruzione altrimenti sarebbero stati alloggi vita natural durante. Nel mezzo della discussione molto giuridica tra questioni di legittimità costituzionale ed eccezioni varie si apre anche uno spaccato sulla domanda inevitabile: come stanno, cosa fanno ora le 'olgettine' oggi?.

In aula c'è solo Miriam Loddo, che non ha molta voglia di parlare di sè ma risponde volentieri per lasciare una buona parola su Nicole Minetti, una delle più carismatiche del gruppo di allora, quella che 'briffava' le altre, secondo le carte processuali, in vista delle cene eleganti. "E' una brava persona e, anche se non sono fatti miei, è un'altra donna". Il riferimento è alla grazia concessa all'ex consigliera regionale e ora messa in discussione. L'avvocata di Ambra Battilana, la modella considerata all'epoca testimone chiave per l'accusa, ci tiene a precisare che non è più parte civile perchè il reato di calunnia si è estinto per prescrizione. Tracce del tempo che passa, anche se i riferimenti a Silvio Berlusconi, assolto sia nel Ruby 1 che nel primo grado del Ruby 3, spuntano in ogni intervento. Ivano Chiesa, noto per la sua dialettica irruenta, non ci gira intorno: "Berlusconi ha dato i soldi alle ragazze perchè era generoso o perchè era un fetente che voleva coprire le signorine?".
I testimoni di uno stile sobrio
Tutti i legali chiedono di riaprire il dibattimento e far venire in aula tanti testimoni, anche figure come il commercialista, l'ex fidanzato, persone che acclarino uno stile di vita sobrio. Il punto in diritto è che le difese rinunciarono in gran parte a citare dei testimoni nel primo grado dopo che i giudici dell'epoca accolsero l'eccezione per cui fu riconosciuto che dovevano essere sentite durante le indagini come indagate e quindi con avvocato. Ora alla luce della Cassazione si reclamano 'quei' testimoni.
La giudice Maria Rosaria Correra ha fretta e crea qualche malumore tra gli avvocati invitati a tagliare corto sulle loro questioni. Alla fine detta le date dei prossimi appuntamenti e quando le chiedono se quella di settembre sarà l'ultima si lascia scappare un "tutti vorremmo che fosse l'ultima" ma il modo rassegnato in cui lo dice fa pensare che i titoli di coda per una storia che solca le aule di giustizia dal 2010 siano ancora lontani.

Flash raid on electoral law: the new text will be presented in the Chamber on June 26th.

The threshold has been raised from 40 to 42 percent, the run-off elections have been abolished, and a system of coordination between the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate has been introduced, aiming to ensure that the bonus is awarded only if there are no discrepancies between the two branches of Parliament. These are the main innovations of the second draft of the electoral law that the majority has submitted to the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.

Blitz on the electoral law: the new text will be debated on June 26th

The bonus (which remains at 70 seats at Montecitorio and 35 at Palazzo Madama) is attributed to the single list or coalition that came first, both in the Chamber and the Senate, provided that it has obtained, in each of the two branches, at least 42 percent of valid votes. If the leading candidate is different, or if the threshold is reached even in one of the two, the seat distribution is wholly proportional in both branches. Furthermore, the ceiling on the number of seats obtainable by whoever receives the bonus has been lowered from 230 to 220 in the Chamber and from 114 to 113 in the Senate.

Italians Abroad

Regarding Italians abroad, it is expected the introduction of a kind of anti-counterfeiting mechanism. Regarding access thresholds, the text maintains the 3% national criterion for coalition lists admitted to seat allocation. A safeguard mechanism is also foreseen for the most voted list within a coalition, even if below the threshold. The proposal also introduces a limit on the size of the resulting parliamentary majority resulting from the bonus. The electoral ballots and voting methods are also redefined. The ballot would include the symbols of the lists, candidates in multi-member districts, and, in a separate box, candidates from constituency lists linked to the governmentability bonus.

The Designation of the Prime Minister Candidate

In the second draft, it has been specified that the failure to indicate the person to be proposed as a prime minister candidate implies the inadmissibility of the lists. The same applies to the failure to present the electoral program. The text was, amid opposition protests, scheduled for June 26th at the Chamber of Deputies. A short hearing cycle on June 3rd, followed by a vote to adopt the basic text the following day, is the hypothesis advanced in the President's office by Commissioner Nazario Pagano.

Opposition in trenches

However, the opposition is criticizing the timing. “First the majority presents a contested text by authoritative constitutionalists; then it unilaterally decides to rewrite it entirely, demanding to dictate the terms of arrival in the Chamber with extremely tight deadlines that once again mortifies the Parliament,” say the Democrats Francesco Boccia and Chiara Braga. And the reassurances of FdI's organization manager are of little value. The text “is not amendable,” said Giovanni Donzelli. “If there is a shareable amendment, we have no reason not to approve it. If there is an amendment that completely distorts the framework, for example by eliminating the majority bonus, we cannot accept it,” he clarified.

Italian surgeon exposed to Ebola in Congo, the woman is not presenting symptoms but will be transferred to Spallanzani.

After coming into contact with some patients later found to be positive for Ebola, an Italian surgeon serving at the health center in Salmat, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been transferred to Italy.
The return, as communicated by the Ministry of Health, is taking place “in total safety.” The woman, a worker for Doctors Without Borders, will be monitored at Spallanzani in Rome, where she will undergo precautionary quarantine and all necessary diagnostic tests.
According to information leaked, the surgeon would not present symptoms attributable to the virus. The transfer was however ordered because, as part of her clinical activity, she had come into contact with some patients who were later infected with Ebola on May 16th.

But that’s not all. Two days later, on May 18th, the doctor also performed an urgent life-saving surgery on a child injured in a grenade explosion. The child, however, already presented some symptoms compatible with the virus and had been classified as a “suspected Ebola case.”
The note issued by the Ministry of Health also specifies that there are currently no cases of Ebola in Italy and that the alert level, as reaffirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO), remains very low both in our country and throughout the European Union.

Electoral law, chaos in the Committee. Opposition against the majority: “We want to see your new text.”

The discussion in the Constitutional Affairs Committee at the Chamber of Deputies begins in the worst possible way regarding the electoral law reform. And perhaps it couldn’t have gone any worse. At the opening of the proceedings this morning, the opposition parties demanded an accounting for whether a new text from the majority was coming, as learned from the press. And that, in the event of a positive response, the discussion would not begin until the measure was submitted. The text already prepared at Montecitorio is that signed by Galeazzo Bignami.

Now, however, even to avoid the risks of unconstitutionality, the majority had revised some aspects of the reform, starting with the increase to 42% of the threshold beyond which the bonus is earned for eliminating the run-off. After an hour of interventions by the opposition (Gianni Cuperlo, Simona Bonafè, Federico Fornaro, Vittoria Baldino and Marco Grimaldi), the general discussion began under the direction of the committee chairman, Nazario Pagano. “It’s a game of hopscotch,” Cuperlo commented on the sidelines, a Democrat, “We asked that at least the speakers illustrate the changes but instead we started with the debate.” The new document, as learned, will arrive tomorrow.

“As always, there are draft laws on which the general discussion has been opened in the committee and, at its conclusion, based on what emerged from the hearings, the speakers will draw the consequences,” Pagano declared. “And it’s likely that they will make proposals for amendments, but “on how to intervene,” i.e., with a revised text or via amendments, “has not yet been decided.” But if there is a revised text, the opposition demands hearings and “there will be a presidential office” that will assess how to proceed and “will depend on the changes: if they are very significant we will evaluate it in that forum.” “It doesn’t appear to me that the text,” initially signed by Bignami, “will be overturned” but nonetheless “I have nothing against possible new hearings.” Pagano then observed that the majority and he himself in the role of chairman have “always shown openness” to the opposition in the discussion: “I was also in favor of a small committee but if you always oppose a ‘no’ that is Soviet…”

Regarding the center-right’s goal of formulating a new electoral law that goes beyond the Rosatellum, Igor Taruffi, the Pd’s organization manager, spoke on Agorà, on RaiTre: “The majority knows perfectly that the game is open, the results of yesterday attest to this. We rightly talk about the capitals of regions, of provinces, but in many municipalities in the province of Naples with 70-80,000 inhabitants – Ercolano, Portici – or of Milan, which are many, the center-left has won by a landslide. And what does that obviously mean? That in those territories, in those constituencies, the center-left will win by a landslide at the next elections, something that the center-right knows, and therefore what does it propose? To remove the single-member constituencies and to change the electoral law, awarding extraordinarily large majority bonuses even to those who take just one more vote. Because they know that with this electoral law they will not return to Palazzo Chigi.”

L’attrice trentaseienne Emily Atack, nota al pubblico per i suoi ruoli in “The Rivals” e “The Inbetweeners“, ha rivelato di aver affrontato gravi problemi di salute in seguito alla nascita del suo primo figlio, Barney, venuto alla luce nel 2024 dalla relazione con il fidanzato Alistair Garner. In un’intervista rilasciata alla rivista Grazia, l’attrice ha spiegato che la sua recente perdita di peso è stata causata da una grave infezione di sepsi contratta dopo il parto, una condizione che l’ha costretta a rimanere chiusa in casa per intere settimane.
Affrontando il tema delle critiche ricevute sui social, Atack ha denunciato l’atteggiamento contraddittorio degli utenti: “Sono stata insultata perché ero enorme quando ero incinta e ora vengo insultata per aver perso peso”. L’attrice ha quindi respinto in modo categorico le speculazioni circolate su Instagram, secondo cui avrebbe fatto ricorso a iniezioni per il dimagrimento pur di sfoggiare un fisico più snello. Non ne posso più di dovermi giustificare”.
Atack ha ricordato di aver sempre avuto un “rapporto sano” con il proprio peso, ma di essersi trovata del tutto impreparata di fronte ai commenti ricevuti quando ottenne il suo ruolo di successo nei panni di Charlotte Hinchcliffe in “The Inbetweeners“. “Tutti hanno iniziato a parlare del mio peso“, ha raccontato. “C’era un’intera pagina Facebook dedicata a me e a Charlotte Hinchcliffe. Non potevo credere a quanto fosse terribile che la gente parlasse del mio peso”. L’attrice ha ricordato come persino i finti complimenti nascondessero una visione distorta della realtà corporea: “Le persone poi cercavano di essere positive e dicevano: ‘Almeno ora vediamo ragazze più formose interpretare ruoli più sexy in televisione’. Non sapevo nemmeno di essere formosa! Ero una taglia 40 (la taglia britannica 8, ndr), un corpo minuscolo, ma per alcune persone era la prima volta che vedevano una ragazza che non fosse davvero, davvero magra.
