New York Transit Museum#DidYouKnow City Island in the #Bronx once had its own #monorail? When the monorail opened in 1910, it was the only monorail in the United States. It ran from Bartow Station (a now long-forgotten ruin inside Pelham Bay Park) to Marshall's Corner, and over a bridge to the tip of City Island.

14missionTried a new (to me) #DarkRoom trick. So, here's what the negative of my #Seattle #Monorail picture actually looks like. It's overall kind of dark. I think I overcompensated for the low light (it was pre-sunrise) and overexposed it, actually. And here's what I got from scanning the negative. The scanner automatically set pretty nice levels.

Why Monorails Are A Bad Idea
@notjustbikes how can a #Tram / #LRT / #StreetCar line be slower than a 1970s monorail joyride designed for everyone age 0-100+...
- I mean, that #monorail had a reason to be that slow as it was designed with enjoyment and panoramic looks in mind.
Tho [for better or worse] that thing didn't get extended to the next Train Station with a Terminus for people to buy tickets and get into the park.
