That was *Bolshevik* communism. There are other kinds of communism, for example, anarchist communism, i.e., Libertarian Socialism. The worker self-owned, worker self-managed workplace is both practical, just, and sustainable. It’s already up and running. It just need to be scaled up. See: #NoBAWC or #Mondragon.
That's not always true. Some currently extant coops have lasted for decades. See #Mondragon, #NoBAWC, etc.
But, of course, the real solution is to do away with capitalist normalcy altogether. It'll take some effort but so what? Consider the alternative.
