I'm going to try #Mojeek (search engine) for a bit and see how it compares to #Kagi. I'd prefer to pay and have no ads, but Mojeek seems very anti-tracking and privacy oriented, serving minimal, text-only ads. Kagi gets "no tracking, no ads, paid service" correct, but fumbled their response to some critical feedback, uses Brave as a source, and you can't buy their search product without also buying access to an LLM / AI chatbot thingy. Mojeek maintains their own index and crawler.

Unfortunately, #Mullvad 's excellent #web #search engine #Leta will be discontinued at the end of the month. What is the best alternative in terms of #privacy and no- #AI ? #Mojeek ? #Startpage ? #DuckDuckGo? Something else?

@jackyan There are much more better options out there. I don't get why people still use Google when there are so many annoying things about it. The ones I recommend using are - #SearXNG, #Startpage, #mojeek, #BraveSearch

TIL @Mojeek prominently filters search results for Substack posts, who knowingly and willingly platforms professed #Nazis. I’ve blocked #Mojeek from all my websites, because I don’t support people actively supporting supporters of anything supremacist or hate.

Mojeek’s CEO, @colinhayhurst, doesn’t see this as a problem, but merely as “an opinion”: https://community.mojeek.com/t/promotion-of-substack/2241

It’s a pity that many alternatives to #BigTech find a way to destroy any goodwill.

I also checked one more, DuckDuckGo, where my article was No 6. Google not checked.
