Working with SEMO DSA recently and simultaneously reading through the various Especifismo texts and Black Rose literature I've been asking myself how do I proceed in this small town in rural southern #MO? Watching part 1 of The Elements of Mutual Aid yesterday was inspiring and I'm not new to starting mutual aid projects. But the flip-side of mutual aid is that depending on how it's organized in context, it can end up being a never-ending box of band aids rather than a challenge to established power structures: #capitalism and the state.
I'm planning to try a weekly or twice a month mutual aid distro in town and while I'll be offering political lit along-side of food, clothing, and other things, it still leaves a gap. In terms of being a part of a larger movement to challenge to power, it doesn't lead anywhere on its own. What is the larger context, the larger campaign in a small town in rural MAGA #US? I'm working to define that.
