“In its prime, #Cahokia was a prosperous city with a population similar to London’s. But this sprawling Native American metropolis from the #Mississippian culture vanished long before Europeans arrived in North America. What happened?”

Cahokia Mounds, a Photo Gallery and Description

I was a #shovelbum for random #archaeological projects in the SE of the USA, nearly a decade ago now.
The chats with archaeologists gave me such a thirst to understand the lives of peoples previously living in my part of the world.
I discovered a midden off to the SW of one transect of mine. Some critter had burrowed in this spot and we discovered a dedicated trash pit. There were thousands of pieces of debitage. We discovered many bits evidence of a thriving village. #bayoupierre #mississippian
