Ich denke ich habe jetzt dann wirklich alles.
Browser Firefox mit Ecosia als Suchmaschine. Mein PW Manager funktioniert damit.
Cloud Drives, mein primäres mit pCloudDrive direkt in der Dateiverwaltung. Mail ist online. VMware Workstation. Und ein paar Tools/Apps mehr.
Das macht einfach Spaß das einzurichten.

Auch nur mit Browser, Drucker #LibreOffice
Da ist man mehr mit "Dinge abschalten" als mit einrichten beschäftigt. Und man sieht was alles an Daten abfließen soll. Es ist so abartig! Von UX will ich erst gar nicht anfangen. Ich rege mich täglich über mein Arbeitsgerät (voll orchestriert vom Arbeitgeber) auf.

Nach über 25 Jahren Windows geht Privat die Reise zu Ende. Beruflich noch nicht. Aber....

Yesterday on my #LinuxJourney: couldn't get to work Double Commander's FTP plugin to autenthicate me with my SSH keys. Maybe the format of the public key was wrong, but why it even needs it, if neither Filezilla, nor SSH itself does. When I gave up on that pursuit, setting up Filezilla for 3 connections with different bookmarks was maybe 15 minutes total.

Also changed the icon of the "start" menu from Mint logo to a little heart. Didn't found a rainbow.

My #LinuxJourney is going as expected – ups and downs. On the one hand, I spent half a day and didn't figure out, how to fix that some apps are not scaling with the rest, the ant-sized text hurts. Might be something X11 and Wayland related, but does Cinnamon even uses Wayland?! The more I searched, the more confused I got. Sadly one of these programs are KeePass2, but I absolutely refuse security apps, where LLM-generated code is allowed, no XC for me.

Will see how it goes next week but so far it seems that by far the biggest problem in my Linux journey will be hibernation. Not only that it seems to be rather complex setup (e.g., I found this for my Mint https://github.com/linuxmint/linuxmint/issues/852), but that hibernation is done in swap file/partition, so there is no way to guarantee that it will not fail became swap was too full.

So a little nut to crack for my #linux bubble: I am running #mintlinux on my external Thunderbolt SSD on the 2013 iMac. Problem is: When I suspend and then resume, the TB SSD does NOT wake up. System hangs -- because there is no root FS anymore!
I already tried iummu=soft and pcie_aspm=off in the grub defaults:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash iommu=soft pcie_aspm=off"

But that does nothing to help. Any other ideas how to wake the sleeping princcess?

After experimenting with #cachyOS, I’ve decided to stick with #MintLinux for now. Some of the apps I enjoy using are only available for Debian-based distributions.

Or any other Distro recommendation for someone who comes from #MacOS?
