Today's #MinorLeague #baseball radio stream: listened to the Hudson Valley Renegades defeat the Brooklyn Cyclones 7-3 in the 1st game of a doubleheader. Decent play-by-play. Listened on my bike ride.
Funniest ad (celebrity voices impersonated)
CHONG (on phone): "You wanna come over and smoke some roaches, man?"
CHEECH: "I always wanna smoke some roaches!"
Of course, Cheech arrives to find Chong coughing because he's set off a bug bomb... "Call the professionals, man!"
Just learned how to find the direct URLs for I♥ and Audacy radio stations. So glad someone figured this out for me; I've had the very devil of a time trying to dig these out from the stations' source code. Much like the streams that come directly from #MinorLeague #baseball, they follow a filename convention that is easy to work with once you know it.
Still have to test the new stations at game time. Not today though -- there are no games on Mondays.
Now that I regularly watch baseball games I asked my best friend who I do sporting stuff with (usually racing) if he wanted to go check out a single-A Salem RidgeYaks (I do NOT know why they chose that for their new name this year...) game this summer which he was into.
I didn't know these were ad opportunities:
"Starting temperature brought to you by..."
"Stolen bases brought to you by..."
"Every strikeout this season brought to you by..."
"All walks this season brought to you by..."
I want to sponsor errors, wild pitches and bench-clearing brawls.
It's "Education Day" at Victory Field in Indianapolis for the Omaha Storm Chasers visiting the Indianapolis Indians, and the stands are filled with kids. Play-by-play announcer said it's "...it's an energetic and (PAUSE) high-pitched crowd..."
Tuned in briefly to a #MinorLeague #baseball broadcast. Broadcaster said, "...and this crowd is really worked up for those tacos..."
In the background, you could hear the fans chanting "TACOS! TACOS! TACOS!"
OMG, the Mavericks League is actually playing some /away games/ this season!
The league is a former #MinorLeague #baseball team, disenfranchised by #MLB in 2020, then reorganized as an independent, 4-team league by turning its alternative identities into separate teams. They've been playing all their games at the hilariously named "Roto-Rooter Park" in Keizer, and this year they're finally touring (not far) by using Spec Keene Park in downtown Salem.
