On est sur le site minier Prosper Il à Bottrop, avec son chevalement type tour Malakoff, une construction des années 1870. Le nom du site, qui fait immanquablement penser à la chanson française des années 30 ou à la publicité des années 80, c’est au choix (ne me remerciez pas, j’aime partager les airs débiles que j’ai dans la tête), vient d'un certain Prosper Ludwig von Arenberg, qui détenait les droits d'exploitation sur les terres. Preparing to relocate, I unearthed a few paintings from my art school years. These works explore the traces of European mining and my early reflections on modern heritage.

“Industrial light” portrays an old industrial lamp like those found in many mines. This lamp no longer illuminates but is illuminated (by the photographer’s flash). Some structural elements (beams) from the original image were retained, while the rest has become a timeless bluish background in which the lamp floats—a relic of a bygone world.

Au fond du parking du Lidl, dans un quartier un peu périphérique de Dortmund, se dresse cet ancien chevalement décati aux allures de tour médiévale, celui de la mine de Westhausen bâti autour de 1872. C’est magique, c’est la Ruhr. Août 2019.
