The rose bush is managing to flower even though we haven't been very good about getting the vines off it, or trimming it down the way you're supposed to. This flower is blooming in spite of the "Bushkiller" (YabuGarashi) vine nearby.. We got this bus in Minamata..

Lots of roses this year. A few years ago we got this rose bush during a visit to Minamata. It grows well, and we get a lot of flowers after a nice student shares her trimming expertise with us...

The petals that are shaded by the rest of the plant seem to get pinker, whle the flowers that get more sun may be paler.. LIke the opposite of people that get sunburn, huh?
