there are peaches
and there are Oregon peaches
and it's important to establish that difference.
incidentally the peach pie at gramma's corner in #milwaukie will knock your socks off. not just the best trad breakfast in north clackamas but with legendary pie to back it up.
looks a little scuzzy outside. note the inside is clean as a whistle and smells like a working kitchen should.
everyone there is nice. the rainbow flags don't lie, they're not there for show, all the queers and all the straights of all the shades there be are welcome there.
this is milwaukie. not as famous as Portland, but a town with a hell of a good streak, one of the finest children's libraries in the West, honor box bagel stands and fruit for sale along a Frequent Service bus route, calm, good milwaukie.
people don't blow crosswalks there. people respect parking rules because tickets are nasty. bike racks are EVERYWHERE.
trimet needs to clean up the sellwood-ardenwald-north milwaukie mess with their buses (that corridor needs to be Frequent Service yesterday) and it'll really help with what's an actual "reactivation": milwaukie north of new city hall, the old Electra Central FCU headquarters.
so yeah, gramma's corner, oh you can get peach pancakes right now too. why oregon peaches so big, juicy, coherent, and delicious? oh, volcanic soil and intense sunlight. mmmmmm. tastes so good.
