Post 2. Another incredible ride out to #Elmira yesterday, with a good 35 km on the #Goderich to #Guelph Rail Trail.

Lots more detail in the alt text.

Re photo 1 - The #Carnegie #Library in Elmira. Not as commanding or as lovingly maintained as the one in #Milverton (the blue bin parked by the main steps is a crime), but still a remarkable piece of architecture.

Cycling medley from yesterday’s 75 km burn…

1. Barn northeast of Stratford.
2. The Goderich-to-Guelph rail trail near Millbank.
3. The Carnegie library at Milverton.
4. Farm house near Milverton.

Sometimes, oddly enough, gravel riding serves up a deserted stretch of pristine blacktop out in the middle of #nowhere - pics 1 & 2. Pic 3 is on the #Goderich-to-#Guelph #railtrail – the #G2G – between #Milverton and #Monkton.

This is all that’s left of the old ‘somnolent’ #Stratford - #Milverton line where it used to cut the corner of the Ellis Swamp. #CN lifted the track some 20 years or so ago. I could look it up, but I’m lazy. 2/2

Fabulous #cycling today, though it was depressing to wander into a new housing development in #Milverton (once a tiny stop on the ‘somnolent’ #Stratford - #Palmerston rail line) that was indistinguishable from any sprawling #farmland desecration one might find in the GTA. Giant homes, giant trucks, tiny people buying shit and wasting energy. I'm thinking now it may even be in my lifetime we see this whole edifice of greed and stupidity collapse. It won’t be pretty. God help us. #photography
