And for anyone who doesn't know what the #MilkTeaAlliance is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_Tea_Alliance

It's a transnational alliance of pro-democracy, anti-authoritarian movements across East and Southeast Asia. Really sad that this movement isn't discussed more on Fedi because there are so many lessons to be learned and the submovements (in Thailand and Myanmar especially) need all the help they can get.

I also recommend @newbloommag's interview here with Jeffrey Wasserstrom, the author of a recent book on the Milk Tea Alliance: https://newbloommag.net/2025/06/12/mta-wasserstrom-interview/

It's just the RSS feed of the mtacalendar.bsky.social Bluesky account. It's so many layers and honestly I should probably just ask them if they are willing to use Bridgy Fed. But it works for me!

Five years since the military coup, hundreds of Myanmar residents and allies across Japan demand freedom for political prisoners, reject sham elections, and call for an end to military rule. ✊ #WhatshappeninginMyanmar #SaveMyanmar #Milkteaalliance www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/...

Despite global trends of youth-led uprisings, Thailand is unlikely to experience a Nepal-style revolt due to the entrenched power of its elites, the absence of organized leadership, and the exodus of politically active youth.

Interview with Jeffrey Wasserstrom about his new book 'The Milk Tea Alliance'

"I was fascinated by the flow of tactics and symbols from Hong Kong in 2019 to Bangkok in 2020 and from there to Burma in 2021. It made me think of an anti-autocratic relay race with a baton being passed from setting to setting."

Tea and Solidarity: Jeffrey Wasserstrom on the Milk Tea Alliance and Pan-Asian Resistance | New Bloom Magazine

In 2020, an unlikely coalition of activists formed online. It brought together protest movements in Hong Kong and Thailand and, before long, fanned out across Asia. By some definitions…

----- Moderation: Philipp Abresch Redaktion: Philipp Abresch, Udo Schmidt, Philipp Weber Mitarbeit: Caroline Mennerich, Anna Stosch, Pia Janssen Redaktionsschluss: 6.62025 ----- Wir freuen uns über euer Feedback! Seriously, if US resistance wants to learn new techniques (next to established ones), the #milkteaalliance is a good source. It’s a youth-led activist movement spanning Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Myanmar. Began as a meme, now a solidarity movement. Three finger salute! bsky.app/profile/mtac...
