Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s wish list for the incoming Trump administration includes oil and gas exploration in the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and reversing restrictions on logging and road-building in a temperate rainforest that provides habitat for wolves, bears and salmon. Dunleavy has asked President-elect Donald Trump to issue a state-specific executive order aimed at achieving those goals and others. Along with other Republican political leaders in the state, he has expressed excitement about Trump's return to the White House and sees him as being more friendly to resource development in Alaska than President Joe Biden. Dunleavy outlined his requests in a letter to Trump.

Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy has vetoed a bill to expand birth control access, while a judge struck down decades-old restrictions on who could perform abortions in the state. The competing developments came Wednesday. The Republican governor’s veto stunned supporters of the measure, which would have forced insurance companies to cover up to a year’s supply of birth control at a time, something considered especially important in providing access in distant rural communities. Meanwhile, Alaska Superior Court Judge Josie Garton found unconstitutional a state law that said only a doctor licensed by the State Medical Board can perform an abortion in Alaska.

75% of the #votes for the #Alaska #2022Election have been counted and the WORST possible choice for #Senate ( #KellyTshibaka , not an #Alaskan who makes ads about how "outsiders" are trying to control Alaska, as if we're not part of the US) is leading #LisaMurkowski by 2% and our current #governor ( #MikeDunleavy , who tried to veto the budget for the #AlaskaSupremeCourt because they shot down his #AbortionBan as unconstitutional- and when that didn't work, tried to open a constitutional convention to change Alaska's constitution to ban abortion) is leading by such a wide margin that there's no way he's not winning.
On the bright side, our #HouseRepresentative is looking like it's going to be #MsryPeltola a #NativeAlaskan and #Democrat Yeah, she's a liberal, but at least she's not a #Republican like the others.
Also, 70% of the state have voted no on opening a constitutional convention. Yay for that, at least.
