Ever experience/ consume a piece of media and just think "Wow this was 100% laser focused to my tastes."? In the category of film, for me, that would be Gareth Edwards "Monsters" (2010). A slow-burn contemplative scifi piece. The trailer does not do it justice at all. It's more like Sofia Coppola's "Lost In Translation" (2003) meets a roadtrip film but thru a post-post apocalyptic landscape.

Blessed are the grizzled vet old guys with no filter. Where insults are their love language and give zero fucks to corpo politics: "That's not life and death; I got shelled by mortars from bandit armies in the Golden Triangle in "police actions" no government will admit to.
