We're getting a vintage 80's #microwave oven. The #gasplasmadisplay seems to be working--unbelievably.

It's mounted inside a cabinet, so it's caseless (or could be?)

Is there anything I can do to keep it running as long as possible? EG: replace the power supply with a modern one? Replace the capacitors in general?

It's so funky, we want to keep it running. Looks like Apollo control panel designers laid it out.

Is this the end of civilisation as we pretend/know it is?

Our Samsung multi oven including microwave has put an SE (Serious Error?) up. It is about 6 months old. After following the trouble shooting guide, still getting the SE message. I had to print out my own manual when we first got it.

So have contacted Samsung to get a person rather than AI 'help desk', which is little use to anyone as we all know...

Apparently Samsung are by appointment to the King in UK. Should I also write to HH King Charles too?

It is model MC28H5013AS in case anyone is interested...

Today was going too smoothly, so I managed to *burn glass* in a microwave.

The handle of this pyrex jug (almost certainly not "real" pyrex) touched the... grille? emitter? of the magnetron and stopped turning, and there was a loud buzzing sound and bright sparks for a couple of seconds before I flew across the kitchen and hit the open button.

WTF just happened? Why did glass do this? My first thought was "oh fuck did I leave metal in there" but I absolutely didn't.

Yesterday's #SOTA activation - Moel y Gamelin.
I tried out the new tripod idea for the antenna mast. It needs a guy line or two, which should be sorted for next time.
It was very cold and windy, so I didn't take many pictures at all. 9 QSOs on 23cms though, which was very good!

In time, when we get warmer and more pleasant weather, I fully intend on making videos of my experiences using the Icom IC-905 for SOTA and other portable operations. #AmateurRadio #HamRadio #IC905 #23CM #Microwave
