Probably the best way to avoid (AI) LLMs in free software is to avoid anything hosted on #MicrosoftGitHub. Apps that truly value freedom will have already moved to other hosting platforms, e.g., #Codeberg. I really don't think any maintainers can claim ignorance asnymore.

GitHub - microsoft/sudo: It's sudo, for Windows

It's sudo, for Windows. Contribute to microsoft/sudo development by creating an account on GitHub.

Just saw Vim and Neovim are allowing LLM contributions. Vim has also moved to #MicrosoftGitHub. (Neovim was already there.) :-(

Luckily, there are forks. https://lwn.net/Articles/1067007/
vim-classic https://vim-classic.org/ (vim 8)
and EVi https://codeberg.org/NerdNextDoor/evi
on freeware-respecting repository servers.

@tante Another sewer dweller complaing about the smell. If you are on #MicrosoftGitHub, you are feeding the LLM vibe coding machine.

Disparaging AI from #MicrosoftGitHub is like complaining about the price of gas while driving to an office job in a gas guzzling vehicle. Maybe you're part of the problem?

@stefan Many freeware respecting members in the fediverse won't work on #MicrosoftGitHub.
Stupid enough to be on #MicrosoftGitHub is stupid enough to believe you can opt out of data collection.
#DumbAllOver

1. Do a pull from your #MicrosoftGitHub account for all repositories
2. Add a remote to a freeware respecting hosting service where you've created an account
3. Push to the new service
4. Figure out how to download other data
5. Delete #GitHub account

If you think this is impossible, you aren't trying very hard.

All of these #MicrosoftGitHub opt out of CoPilot posts should start with, "To pretend you're opting out", because that's the reality. The only real way is to move your repository to a freeware respecting service like #Codeberg.
@rysiek I'm pretty sure they've been already doing this IIRC I read the fine print when I moved my repos and it was stated that the archives of my data would still be used for these purposes. I moved as soon as Microsoft acquired GitHub, because I've a never-Microsoft stance, since Windows 3.1.
