Bill Gates FREAKS OUT As Users ABANDON Windows After AI Update Disaster!

Did you know that Windows Hello doesn't work with IR blocking glasses? (iPhone facial recognition does, with a certain setting.)
Guess who has IR blocking glasses?
So now my work computer doesn't recognize me with my glasses on. It took me long enough to sort this out that I was annoyed.
Guess whose computer doesn't recognize her when she's happy?
Yep! I have the hardest time logging back in after lunch bwi because the kid always makes me laugh!
Oh good. #Microsoft removing features. Just what everyone needed. 🤦🏼♂️
Come children, let me tell you a terrifying Halloween tale of trying to use Microsoft to complete an assignment.
My university uses Microsoft for everything. It's integrated into all their platforms, and they encourage us to use Office.
I've managed to mostly avoid it by doing my assignments in LibreOffice on a Linux computer. The submissions folder won't accept .odt files so I submit assignments in .pdf, which looks the same on any computer (and can be opened in Word if the marker insists on using it).
But for the last assignment, the unit coordinator was adamant I submit in .docx, even though correct formatting was a large chunk of our mark, and it's famous for inconsistent formatting.
I put the assignment together in LibreOffice as usual, and just before submission I saved it to a .docx file (which looked great in LO Writer) and opened it in Word 365 online to check it rendered correctly.
Did it? Nah absolutely not. Word screwed up all my formatting and references.
It took me an hour to reformat it and correct the references. Office online is extremely laggy, so it kept undoing my changes because they didn't match what was saved to the cloud. Every button was only half responsive. Basic functions that are on the LibreOffice toolbar, or can be placed there with a few clicks, were buried behind layers of laggy, badly-labelled menus.
And then there was Copilot. It kept trying to "correct" my document.
"Oh, this discipline-specific word you used is wrong, let me correct it without asking." No thanks, CTRL+Z.
"Hey, looks like your grammar and spelling are wrong" ... No, I'm just Australian.
"Are you trying to make a list? Let me automate that for you and readjust all your margins!" I'm not trying to make a list.
It's like Clippy on meth.
All that extra time meant I barely got my assignment in before deadline. I'm still not convinced it didn't screw up my document. I ended up throwing a pdf copy into the submission folder as a backup.
I cannot fathom why this aggressively confusing, barely useable junk is industry standard. Why are my uni fees being wasted on this nonsense? They fail us if we use AI but they force us to use a product that rewrites our work without consent at every turn.
Glad I don't have that unit coordinator again.

☢️😱 A US nuclear weapons agency has reportedly been breached in the recent Microsoft SharePoint vulnerability attacks. It turns out on‑prem SharePoint servers were compromised via a zero‑day, hitting dozens of organizations including the National Nuclear Security Administration. Microsoft patched it only after hackers had already exfiltrated countless credentials and moved laterally within the networks, which raises questions on how Microsoft handles legacy systems and patch management. 🤷♂️
TL;DR
⚠️ Zero‑day in on‑prem SharePoint allowed remote code execution
🔐 Affected at least 50 entities including NNSA, but no classified data leaked? Maybe?
🛠️ Cloud‑based SharePoint remained untouched, on‑prem took the hit
📌 Response: patch, isolate, rotate credentials, audit enterprise policies, and demand more from your vendors!

After recovering from a disruption by pro-Palestinian protests, a Microsoft speaker accidentally screen shared the wrong window - that being, internal Microsoft Teams chats.

This could only have been worse if it had turned out Microsoft was actually using Slack for internal messaging.
