The build list for the #gaming PC I just built for myself the other day, and what I paid for it at #Microcenter. A lot cheaper than I thought, though still considerably more expensive than the last system I built. The last time I built a system AMD still used PGA CPUs instead of LGA. It has done great though with #ChimeraOS and will make an excellent 1080p living room gaming machine, 🙂

Built my own #SteamMachine with #ChimeraOS today. More expensive than the last time I built a #gaming PC, but not too bad since #Microcenter had bundles with the 7800X3D, motherboard and 32GB of RAM for like $500.

I may have to move it or do some modifications to our entertainment center, depends on how thermals act under a gaming load.

I cracked my #iphone screen today. Was able to get it fixed same day at #microcenter in less than two hours for $30. What a time to be alive.
Thanks to "tommy", who seemed to have bought a raspberry pi500 plus, returned it to Microcenter, and in the process forgot to delete his data but more importantly gave me the chance to get it with a significantly discount as "open box" :)

Micro Center.

There was much rejoicing when Micro Center opened a location in Phoenix a couple of months ago. Earl and I were there for grand opening weekend, and when I went to pick him up earlier today, I made sure we made time to stop at the wondrous place.

I have been moving all of our “smart home” functionality away from Apple’s HomeKit and into Home Assistant. I wanted to build a touchscreen for the living space, so instead of needing to yell at Siri and probably not get the expected results, we can just turn to a little touchscreen on the end table and fire off our automation routines that way.

I ended up buying a Raspberry Pi 5, Touch Display 2, some cases, and a few other odds and ends for the project. I forgot a case; that arrives later this week. It’s coming from Micro Center, of course.

The project is fairly straightforward. I hope to have it completed in the next few days.

I think I've mentioned this before, but I'm really impressed with the Inland PLA+ filament from Micro Center. From what I've been able to gather this is repackaged eSun PLA+ if you don't have a Micro Center nearby. It prints really, really nicely and without any issue whatsoever. Extremely nice finish on stuff printed with it. This will probably be my go-to going forward for regular 'ole PLA.

I don't "do Black Friday" but... I was curious and nominally need a bunch of shit I'm not actually about to buy at current prices... so I cruised by MicroCenter - you know - for SCIENCE.

All their Black Friday deals were all week, nothing special today. No doorbusters, I gather. I'm glad I wasn't one of the people who lined up before they opened.

Best Buy was on the way home and it was the same deal. I heard from an employee the doorbuster was vacuum cleaners, which is kind of perfect.

I mean, I guess it does suck.
