#microaggression
"It's okay, I don't mind."
Why someone ‘not minding’ isn’t a reason to ignore their needs, or take advantage of them in any way.

"Not Your Indigenous Mascot—My Culture Is Not A Costume"

Amelia Mavis Christnot writes about the serious issues with the use of Indigenous American and First Nations names and images by sports teams.
“One tool I find helpful is to ask myself what I lose by stopping the behavior that was called out. Even if the person is being overly sensitive, what happens if I just acquiesce?”
“Do I really suffer any harm by agreeing with their request or does my ego just get bruised?”
“If it's just a bruised ego, I need to get over myself.”

Three thoughts on #WalzVanceDebate:
1. #JDVance sets off all of my alarm bells. Every instinct of my body screams "PREDATOR!" in response to that man. Smarmy. Oily. I do not believe a single word that came out of his mouth tonight.
2. Vance WOULD NOT say that #DonaldTrump lost the 2020 election. He WOULD NOT say that he, Vance, would accept the 2024 election results if the GOP loses.
3. Walz consistently called Vance "Mr. Senator."
Vance consistently called Walz "Tim." #Microaggression
The way my brain just *casualllly* recollects things from 14 years ago like they were just yesterday I feel should be classified as some sort of neurological #microaggression. :/

Study findings reveal that racist microaggressions, along with LGBTQ-related family rejection and internalized LGBTQ-phobia, have a significant impact on psychological distress among SGM SOC. Public health leaders have an important opportunity for policy and program development and reform to address …
Camera person just zoomed out briefly to show another signer among press who seems to be signing to the signer who's supposed to be signing to the TV audience, then zoomed back in, excluding both.
This goes beyond #microaggression: it's publicly disparaging & trivializing the needs of the #deaf & borders on #abuse.
Maybe camera person/producer deems it blah blah, but that's for the viewer to determine. Otherwise, why even bother to cover it.
More #media arrogance.
"I do not use “#microaggression” anymore. [...] A persistent daily low hum of #racist #abuse is not minor. I use the term “abuse” because aggression is not as exacting a term. Abuse accurately describes the action and its effects on people: distress, anger, worry, depression, anxiety, pain, fatigue, and suicide.
What other people call racial #microaggressions I call racist abuse. And I call the zero-tolerance policies preventing and punishing these abusers what they are: #antiracist. Only racists shy away from the R-word — #racism is steeped in denial."
