@bryanhansel Years ago I owned a remote piece of property on Sleeping Bay of Lake Superior. This is in the western part of the Michigan UP. One year I drove as close as I could get, hiked from there, waded chest deep to cross the West Fork of the Sleeping River and then went for a balmy swim in the lake.
The bay is relatively shallow and has a hard sand bottom. When there is an onshore breeze the warm surface water is pushed into the bay. I could have played in the water all afternoon.

The Marquette Harbor Lighthouse is on Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The original lighthouse was built in 1853, but was poorly constructed, so was rebuilt in 1866 with the present lighthouse. In 1965, it was painted red, making it unique on the Great Lakes.
