@Nonilex It’s a stunt. #MIGOP controls nothing in Lansing these days so they can only grandstand for their voters. Tomorrow is the #MichiganPrimary and #Republicans are always trying to prove themselves gun-crazier than each other.

"'Message has been received': Biden's campaign reacts to 'uncommitted' votes"

NPR completely dropped the ball here. Mitch Landrieu first says that the message has been received, but then he continues with this platitude:

"We're going to continue to talk to them and then ask them to think about the choices and what the consequences are about electing somebody who wants to have a Muslim ban, electing somebody who is going to be much, much worse than the difficult circumstances that we have right now."

This is the same bloody reheated bullshit that the Democrats have been peddling for ages. Every time you criticize them on any of their stupid policies: "well, the other side is worse!!!"

If the Democrats lose the next election, they'll only have themselves to blame. (But you can be sure that they're going to blame "all the things," except themselves. It is going to be a repeat of what happened in the past.)

Seeing a lot of uninformed opinions about the Michigan primary last night (looking at you, CNN). First, the uncommitted vote for either party has historically been 10-20%, so Biden getting roughly 13% in a non-competitive primary is great - the GOP’s uncommitted % was even higher.

Second, the raw numbers mean little in terms of the November election, you cannot take the number of voters for Biden and Trump and extrapolate. This isn’t to say that GOP voters have a history of always voting, whereas Dem voters stay home when unhappy, it is definitely an issue in general, but the Dearborn numbers do not reflect the rest of the state. In fact, the numbers out of Grand Rapids are bad for Trump - the west side of the state is red and supported Trump in 2016/2022, but yesterday showed a definite decrease in support.

If just 10% of the Democrats who voted #uncommitted in yesterday's #Michigan primary stay home in November, Trump probably wins Michigan and very likely the presidency. Dear Joe Biden, PLEASE wake up before it's too late. #MichiganPrimary #CeaseFireNow https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/michigan-gaza-uncommitted-biden
Michigan's Primary Must Be Wake-Up Call for Biden on Gaza

If Biden loses Michigan, as Hillary Clinton lost it to Trump in 2016, his path to electoral victory becomes exceedingly difficult. But it's not too late to turn things around. Human lives, and very possibly his reelection, depend on it.

'We Need Joe Biden to Listen': 100,000+ Michigan Primary Voters Mark Uncommitted

The results "represent a historic inflection point for creating a Democratic Party that aligns with the majority of its voters who want a cease-fire," said one organizer.

Can someone explain how this is a win for the protest vote? Biden attracted five times the vote Obama did in 2012 and the protest vote is virtually the same percentage.

Might some of those 600,000 votes reflect an anti-protest vote? 🤷‍♂️ #uspolitics #MichiganPrimary

🇺🇸&🇪🇺 media alike today about #MichiganPrimary:
🥸 Trump won by 68.2%➡️media cover Trump’s easy victory.
😵‍💫@JoeBiden won by 81.1%➡️media explain Biden’s victory shows he has a problem.

Go figure.

"Organizers of the “vote uncommitted” campaign hoped that if they could cut into Biden’s margin in Michigan, they could pressure him to change course and use his leverage with the Israeli government to pull back its forces.

If the uncommitted vote exceeds 15% in any congressional districts or statewide, Michigan will send at least some delegates to the Democratic National Convention in August who are not pledged to Biden.

Anger toward Biden is hard to miss. At a Mexican restaurant in Lansing last week, the Ingham County Democratic Party met and passed a resolution calling for a cease-fire. The vote was unanimous, with Jewish members among those voting in favor.

Marshall Clabeaux, 30, sponsored the resolution. He is a loyal Democrat who estimates that he has knocked on more doors for Democratic candidates than anyone else in Michigan over the past decade. Now, he said, he is "broken" over the suffering and death in Gaza.

"If he [Biden] doesn't change course, it's very difficult for me to vote for him in November," he said."
