Nice writeup in the Paris Review today of my friend #MichelleTea's #Valencia, which will be getting a deluxe reissue this year for its 25th anniversary. Valencia is essentially the greatest book that currently exists about the "poetry slam years" of the 1990s, and Michelle is essentially the greatest writer I've ever personally known in my entire life. It comes strongly recommended, so keep an eye out for that reissue later this year.

[Review] We not only learn about Michelle Tea’s life, but also how those experiences shaped her practice, how her practice evolved, and how she evolved as a person as well. However, there is none of that holier than thou attitude that some might expect. Quite the opposite, in fact.
