One notable thing about this era of #Kraftwerk: that's #KlausDinger on drums! This is the era when he and #MichaelRother (who isn't in this particular show) were both members before they peaced out to start #Neu!

His drums have a lot to do with how different their sound is, IMO, on top of just not having yet entered their smooth electronic motorik era

Was last night seeing #MichaelRother do a blazing set of Neu! and Harmonia songs a hell of a thing? Sure was. (The fact that Hans Lampe, the drummer in Neu!'s brief live incarnation in the mid-seventies so Klaus Dinger could be even more Klaus, was here is even better.) #music

Neu? Neu! Neu2
Neu! German for "New!" were a West German krautrock band formed in Düsseldorf (HA! It's Dusseldorf again, like you saw in ELOY) in 1971 by #KlausDinger and #MichaelRother following their departure from Kraftwerk. The group's albums were produced by #ConnyPlank, who has been regarded as the group's "hidden member". They released three albums in their initial incarnation — Neu! (1972), Neu! 2 (1973), and Neu! 75 (1975) — before disbanding in 1975. I SO FUCKING LOVE THE MUSIC OF NEU!
