For Monday, listen to Miles Davis' "He Loved Him Madly," from "Get Up With It" (1974). Begins ambiently, then develops a slow pulse. Haunting.

Listen to Miles Davis' "Right Off," recorded in 1970, released in 1971 as part of "A Tribute to Jack Johnson." Got Billy Cobham hittin' the 2 and 4 accents for that rock beat now. Likely should be played loud.

Miles Davis - Jack Johnson

I've read multiple conflicting accounts of how this album came together. Despite it being two tracks (Side A - Right Off; Side B - Yesternow), it was edited together by Teo Macero from a bunch of separate sessions.

But whatever the truth is, the band absolutely cooks. Probably my favorite "Electric Miles" album.

Finished another #StevieWonder album: Live at Talk of the Town. He said that "Shoo-Be-Doo-Be" was the best part of the show and it's hard to argue. It's up-tempo, funkier, and bigger than the original version with some great improv on the clavinet (and maybe bass guitar by #MichaelHenderson? Not sure I can always tell the 2 instruments apart). "Alfie" was beautiful as well. Also cool to hear an early version of "Signed Sealed Delivered." A favorite among the albums I've listened to so far.
