“Matador de Aluguel 2” adiciona seis lutadores profissionais ao elenco e confirma retorno de Jay Hieron
A Amazon MGM Studios anunciou seis novas adições de peso ao elenco de “Matador de Aluguel 2” (Road House 2), sequência do sucesso lançado em 2024. O novo longa contará com a participação de Rico Verhoeven, Michael Chandler, Michael “Venom” Page, Dustin Poirier, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson e Tyron Woodley, todos nomes consagrados do mundo das artes marciais. Além deles, o filme também marcará o retorno de Jay Hieron, que volta a interpretar o lutador do UFC Jax “Jetway” Harris.
A trama da continuação segue mantida em sigilo, mas o estúdio promete uma produção de maior escopo, escala e ambição, com filmagens programadas para o Reino Unido, Malta e Savannah, na Geórgia. Jake Gyllenhaal reprisa o papel de Elwood Dalton, um ex-lutador do UFC que se torna segurança em um bar — personagem inspirado no clássico dos anos 1980 estrelado por Patrick Swayze.

O primeiro “Matador de Aluguel”, lançado em 2024 no Prime Video, foi um sucesso instantâneo, alcançando mais de 80 milhões de espectadores em suas primeiras oito semanas e tornando-se um dos títulos mais assistidos da plataforma. O remake apresentou Conor McGregor como o principal antagonista, ao lado de participações de nomes ligados ao UFC, como Bruce Buffer, Jon Anik e Dana White.
A sequência será novamente dirigida por Ilya Naishuller (“Hardcore Henry”), com roteiro de Will Beall (“Aquaman”). O elenco também conta com Leila George, Aldis Hodge e Dave Bautista. A produção é assinada por Charles Roven e Alex Gartner, da Atlas Entertainment, em parceria com Jake Gyllenhaal e Josh McLaughlin, da Nine Stories Productions, que mantém um contrato de exclusividade de três anos com a Amazon MGM.
Entre os novos nomes, Rico Verhoeven se destaca como 13 vezes campeão mundial de kickboxing pelo Glory, onde é conhecido como “O Rei do Kickboxing”. Ele traz experiência nas telas, com participações em filmes como “Den of Thieves: Pantera”, “Black Lotus” e “Kickboxer: Retaliation”.
Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, Stephen Thompson e Tyron Woodley também têm carreiras marcadas no UFC, com diversos títulos e prêmios de “Luta da Noite” e “Luta do Ano”. Page, por sua vez, é um ex-campeão de kickboxing e lutador britânico de MMA que conquistou fama no Bellator antes de assinar com o UFC.

House Speaker Mike Johnson signaled support for a Republican effort to ban Democrat Sarah McBride — the first transgender person to be elected to Congress — from using women’s restrooms in the Capitol once she’s sworn into office next year.
