Giacomo Meyerbeer vertonte ein Libretto von Johann Gottfried Wohlbrück (1770-1822).

Am 06.01.1813 hatte eine der ersten Opern Meyerbeers mit dem Titel "Wirth und Gast" ihre Uraufführung in Stuttgart.

Beim Librettisten handelt es sich um den Begründer einer Schauspielerfamilie, deren Mitglieder bis ins 20. Jahrhundert aktiv waren, zuletzt Adolf Wohlbrück (1896-1967).
