The owner of Metaponeko is very busy preparing for upcoming exhibitions. One will be held at a piano salon in Tokyo at the end of this month, followed by another at a pharmacy in Tokyo at the end of next month. To ensure local children can enjoy them, the owner intentionally avoids exhibiting in traditional galleries. Coloring pages and small souvenirs are also being made for the children.

メタポネコの飼い主は展覧会の準備で大忙しです。今月末に東京にあるピアノサロンで展覧会。来月末は東京の薬局で展覧会を開催します。地域の子供達に楽しんでもらいたくて、ギャラリーでは展示しないようにしています。子供達のために、ぬりえと小さなお土産も作っています。

It’s been 15 years since the 2011 earthquake. I was working near Tokyo then; the shaking was intense—unlike anything I’d felt before—so I evacuated outside until it stopped.
Since I lived near my workplace, my immediate situation was fine. But as the news from Fukushima started coming in the following day, everything changed. In Tokyo, those days are becoming a distant memory now.

今日で東日本大震災から15年経ちます。私は東京の近くで働いていたから、普段よりも揺れが強くてびっくりした程度でした。用心のために建物の外へ出て、揺れが収まるのを待ちました。
家も会社の近くだったから、問題なく過ごしていました。翌日くらいから福島のニュースが報道され始めて、それから日常がガラリと変わりました。今はもう、東京では風化していますけどね。

Since I’ve gained so many "Metaponeko" friends recently, I’m sharing a special extra post this week to introduce Metaponeko!
The name "Metaponeko" comes from "Metabolic Syndrome"—basically, he’s a chubby cat.
He’s a 3-year-old boy. He absolutely hates baths, so he’s a little bit smelly, but he loves treats and getting into mischief!
I’ll introduce more of his friends if I get the chance.
Thank you for showing so much love to Metaponeko. As his owner, it makes me very happy.

メタポネコはメタボリックシンドロームのメタボから名付けています。つまり太ったネコです。
3歳のオスです。お風呂が大嫌いで少し臭いです。おやつとイタズラが大好きです。

メタポネコのお友達紹介は、また機会があればやります。
メタポネコくんを好きになってくれてありがとうございます。飼い主の私も嬉しいです。

Metaponeko went to the library to help create small signs for "No Littering Cigarettes" using a 3D printer. After finishing the 3D modeling on his tablet, he had the library staff start the printing process, when suddenly...
Poot!!
"Whoa!!! That smells!!"
"Ehehe, sorry. I just let one rip 😸"
While the 3D printer was busy outputting the sign, Metaponeko decided to "output" a fart instead. It was so smelly that everyone was caught off guard—what a troublemaker!

メタポネコくんは図書館へ行きました。3Dプリンタでタバコポイ捨て禁止の小さな看板を作るお手伝いをするためです。タブレットで3Dモデリングを作って、図書館のスタッフに出力してもらっていると...。

プッ！！

「うわわわわ！！！臭い！！」
「えへへ。ごめん。オナラしちゃった😸」

3Dプリンタの出力中に、メタポネコくんはオナラを出力してしまいました。
みんながビックリするくらい臭いなんて、困ったものです。

The shop was filled with freshly baked bread! Liver pâté bread, blueberry tarts, milk cream sandwiches, ciabatta, anchovy and olive bread…
It’s so hard to choose — everything looks delicious!

メタポネコと大きな虫が一緒に森を歩いていると、赤茶色の布で全身を包み、杖をついて歩いてる人が現れました。
「私は道に迷いました。助けてください。」杖をついた人が助けを求めて来ました。
彼は本当に悪い人ではありません。長いこと道に迷って本当に困っているのですが、見た目のせいで怖がられます。

Metaponeko and a big insect were walking together through the forest when a person wrapped entirely in reddish-brown cloth appeared, leaning on a cane.

“I’ve lost my way. Please help me,” the person with the cane asked.

He isn’t truly a bad person. He has been lost for a long time and is genuinely in trouble — but because of how he looks, others are afraid of him.

先週の東京は雪が降りました。
東京は毎年2月に1回だけ雪が降るくらいです。子供達は珍しい雪に大喜びします。
ところで、メタポネコくんはお友達とちゃんと遊べているのかな？お友達は泣いてるよ！！

It snowed in Tokyo last week.
In Tokyo, it usually only snows once in February each year, so the children are overjoyed at the rare sight.
